Introduction to find the perimeter of Trapezoid:
Trapezoid is quadrilateral type which the opposite pair of two sides is equal. Trapezoid consists of four sides which are all not equal. The sum of total interior angle is 360º and also an exterior angle 360º. The sum of adjacent angle is 180º. Let us see how to find the perimeter of the trapezoid.
Formula to find the Perimeter of Trapezoid
To find the perimeter,
Add all the four sides of the trapezoid =a+b+c+d.
Example Problems – find the perimeter of the trapezoid
Ex 1: Find the perimeter of trapezoid whose sides are 12 cm, 4 cm, 7 cm and 9 cm.
Sol:
Let take a = 12 cm
b = 4 cm.
c = 7 cm
d = 9 cm.
Formula = a+b+c+d
12 + 4 + 7 + 9 = 32 cm
Answer: 32 cm
Ex 2: The Perimeter of the trapezoid is 156 m. The pair of two opposite side is 34 m and third side is 40 m. find the other side of the trapezoid.
Sol:
Given: Perimeter of the trapezoid is 156 m
a + b + c + d = 156 m
c = 40 m
a = b = 34 m
To find d:
34 + 34 + 40 + d = 156
d = 156 – (34 + 34 + 40)
= 156 – ( 108 ) = 48 m
Answer: 48
Ex 3: Find the perimeter of the trapezoid whose sides are of the following?
13 cm, 5 cm, 3 cm and 7 cm.
Sol:
Let take a = 13 cm
b = 5 cm
c = 3 cm
d = 7 cm
To find: The perimeter of trapezoid
a + b+ c + d = 13 + 5 + 3 + 7 = 28 cm.
Answer: 28 cm
