Mean Mode Medium
Mean is nothing but average value of set of numbers. Mode is the number which is repeated frequently in the set of numbers. The medium or median of a set of numbers is a Median Value of a set of numbers after the arrangement of ascending or descending order. If the total number of elements in a set is even then find the two middle numbers (n and n+1) after the arrangement of the numbers and find the average of two numbers which is the required medium.

Example 1: In a class 9 students’ marks as follows 46, 64, 78, 82, 72, 58, 66, 90, and 82. Find mean, mode, and medium.
Solution:
Arrange the set of numbers in ascending order {46, 58, 64, 66, 72, 78, 82, 82, 90}
Mean:
Mean = (Sum of elements in a set)/(Total number of elements in a set)
= `(46 + 58 + 64 + 66 + 72 + 78 + 82 + 82 + 90) / 9`
= `638/9 ` = 70.89
Therefore mean of a given set of students’ mark is 70.89.
Mode:
Mode = The number repeated frequently in the set of numbers.
Here 82 is repeated twice, therefore 82 is the mode of given set of numbers.
Medium:
Medium = The middle value of the set of numbers after the arrangement.

Here 72 is the middle number, therefore medium is 72.
Example 2: In a class 10 students’ weights as follows 62, 72, 82, 62, 94, 83, 83, 100, 75, and 85.
Solution:
Arrange the set of numbers in ascending order {62, 62, 72, 75, 82, 83, 83, 85, 94, 100}
Mean:
Mean = (Sum of elements in a set)/(Total number of elements in a set)
= `(62 + 62 + 72 + 75 + 82 + 83 + 83 + 85 + 94 + 100) / 10`
= `798/10 ` = 79.8
Therefore mean of a given set of students’ weights is 79.8.

Here 62 and 83 are repeated twice; therefore 62 and 83 are the mode.
Medium:
