Multiplication of Radicals with example

Introduction:

Radical is a topic from Algebra which relates with the exponents.
Multiplication of radicals can be performed between unlike radicals also. There are different types of multiplication of radicals as shown in the below examples.

How to do multiplication of radicals:

We can multiply the radicals with the same indices. If the radicals have the same indices then multiply the radicands to get a new radicand and multiply the coeffiocients to get a new coefficient.

= 2 X - 5 = - 10 OR = = - 10

Hence,

Multiplication of radicals

1. In the multiplication of radicals of one term,

first multiply the numbers outside the radicals and

then we multiply the numbers inside the radicals.

Generally :

Example on multiplication of radicals:

Consider the following multiplication.

√16 • √25 = 4 • 5 = 20

OR

√16 • √25 = √400 = 20

Hence, √16 • √25 = √(16 • 25)
